The Palapa C2 satellite was manufactured by Boeing Satellite Corporation. It has both C and KU band capacity. The Palapa C2 is the current follow on satellite from the B series Hughes craft. The C2 provides improved radio and TV station transmissions across China, Southeast Asia, the Pacific and Oceania. The C2 satellite was the first to use two C band coverage beams. The Asean beam covers much the same area as the B series. However the Asean Plus beam extends its coverage to Australia and New Zealand providing a very powerful beam over New Zealand
